OBSERVATORY UT5
Project overview:
Designed for a dutch couple who retired in Algarve, it was intended as a mountain shelter for the enjoyment of the stunning natural surroundings. The house became an observatory for both the scenery and the sky due to the stunning cosmic night scene.

I named it UNIT TELESCOPE 5, as a reference to the existing 4 VLT’s (very large telescope) in Chile´s Cerro Paranal space observatory. A little geeky, I admit.
The design intended to create a mix between traditional and contemporary languages, like two separate personalities, also bridging the contrasting cultures from urban Amsterdam and rural Algarve.
