CARACAS THEATRE

Overview:

Project delivered with a team @ Broadway Malyan & Eustáquio & Faísca architects.

Winner of a design competition to refurbish the town’s main entertainment hub. The Caracas Theatre had been for 50 years the place to go for any large scale cultural event. Growing up in Oliveira de Azeméis, I recall this building with great fondness. My strongest memory was that of the sliding curtain before the beginning of the show. A magic moment of excitement as the performance was about to begin. I brought the curtains to the facade as part of the design concept idea. Entering the building becomes that moment of magic.
